y’all ever have one of those weeks?

hey y’all ever have one of those weeks…like everything seems to be going wrong.  everything.  not really sure why i even ask y’all…seriously who doesn’t??

we get so caught up in all the chaos & BIG mess of this crazy world.  we all have thorns in our rose bush of life and no matter how much we try to prune back the ugly to keep the beauty growing we get pricked by the thorns. those thorns hurt. you can’t remove the thorns or bury them way down deep.

so i took a few minutes to step back.  to regroup and take a deep breath of God.   i started again to trim this beautiful rose bush and i kept getting pricked but all i could see was the roses.  that rose bush is my life.  beautiful.  keep pruning the ugly and the beauty will continue to grow.  our lives are good.  very good.  full of thorns but we just have to focus on the roses and not the thorns that prick at us everyday. there IS way more beauty.

isaiah 61:3

“and provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garmet of praise instead of a spirit of despair.  They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. “

A poem quoted by Elisabeth Elliot
Do The Next Thing

“At an old English parsonage down by the sea,
there came in the twilight a message to me.
Its quaint Saxon legend deeply engraven
that, as it seems to me, teaching from heaven.
And all through the hours the quiet words ring,
like a low inspiration, ‘Do the next thing.’

Many a questioning, many a fear,
many a doubt hath its quieting here.
Moment by moment, let down from heaven,
time, opportunity, guidance are given.
Fear not tomorrow, child of the King,
trust that with Jesus, do the next thing.

Do it immediately, do it with prayer,
do it reliantly, casting all care.
Do it with reverence, tracing His hand,
who placed it before thee with earnest command.
Stayed on omnipotence, safe ‘neath His wing,
leave all resultings, do the next thing.

Looking to Jesus, ever serener,
working or suffering be thy demeanor,
in His dear presence, the rest of His calm,
the light of His countenance, be thy psalm.
Do the next thing.”
