Round Top ANTIQUES WEEEKS #50

seriously, it’s hard to believe this will be our 50th ANTIQUE SHOW.  i was 12 when i worked my 1st show.  i was 14 when i bought my 1st antique.  i paid in $1 bills…100 of ’em.  it was an armoir & i still have it…now it holds rick’s shovels & racks, not clothes!  when i married my husband, rick i had enough stuff to decorate a few houses.  and, i’m PRETTY darn sure i bought all of it in round top.  now i’m so BUSY at the cafe & pie haven i don’t even get out to buy…i really miss it.  maybe this year.  in the meantime, check out my FAB friend, holly mathis & her blog on shopping…she gets it and i lurve her style…www.hollymathisinteriors.com.

(thanks to www.roundtop-marburger.com for the photo!)

now down to the nitty gritty.  the tents start going up and i go into DENIAL.  has it really been 6 months already?  didn’t we just work 200 hours in 14 days? now there are only a few more nites to tuck the KIDS into bed. (remind me to tell you about havin’ a baby during ANTIQUE WEEK).  now we couldn’t do it without my mother in law, ANNE.  she moves in during the show & works during the day at the cafe & then gets the kids at nite.   we are truly blessed.  did i remember to get everything that i need at the store?  deodorant? ALEVE?  plenty of jeans so we don’t have to do laundry?  well, if i haven’t made it HAPPEN by now it ain’t happenin’!

(one of my fav pics of brayden (he is way bigger now!) stopping by for a visit…grandma brings them a couple nites to say, “hi!”)

i have been here for 50 SHOWS & i have a hard time keeping up with the shows.  below’s a great little schedule of ‘da shows…i borrowed this one from holly.  not really sure how she did this but i need to FIGURE it out!  and, the round top area chamber of commerce is a wealth of information on the show schedule. MARIANNE is there & can answer all your questions! she rocks.  tell her TARA said, “HI!”  BE SURE to grab your copy of the SHOW DAILY…it gives ‘ya ALL ‘ya need  to survive the show…details, maps, BAND line ups, where to eat but you know to just eat at ROYERS, show hours and GRAND stories.

so, besides the shopping there are the friends that have become family over the last 25 years.  the friends are what keep us going.  it’s like a GINORMOUS family reunion that we want to go to.  like john & PEARL and, you must head to magnolia’s booth at marburger farm!  there are soooo many places y’all have to visit and i would need to write another blog on my top 100 list…hmmmm, maybe one day.

of course,  it wouldn’t be antique week without eating dinner at Royers Round Top Cafe every nite…we have ENUFF fab stuff on the menu for EVERY  nite!!  now, y’all need to call the cafe to make RESERVATIONS for dinner.  no emails, TEXTS or sticky notes, PLEASE! 979.249.3611.  you have to eat to keep shopping.  you must refuel your SOUL & inspiration.

then headin’ over to PROM on THURSDAY, Oct. 4th at ZAPP HALL.  the Junk Gypsies know how to throw one heck of a partee under the BIG Texas SKY, twinkle lights, lots ‘o beer & down right good ‘ole music!!  so, dig out those BOOTS, that crazy prom DRESS, SILLY TOP HAT & gawdee jewels & kick up yo’ heels!  and, you can EAT ROYERS CAFE at ZAPP HALL the WHOLE SHOW TOO!!

of course, after all that partee N’ you definitely need a FAB coffee fix & we got it.  Royers Pie Haven has a full coffee bar, great breakfast pies, muffins, scones, JUNKBERRY SMOOTHIE & granola.  and, grab WHOLE pies for the road home…trust me, you want to take your husband pie after all the spendin’!   the Pie Haven is in the AMAZING Henkel Square Market located in Round Top!!

(omg, you can only get this bad boy at THE PIE HAVEN!  CHICKEN MARGHERITA PIZZA PIE!!)

well, just a few more details…BE SURE to eat LUNCH with us AT THE BIG RED BARN…totally different menu from the cafe…GLORIFIED CONCESSION STAND…yummo!!  well, we hope to see you the next 2 weeks.  pack your boots, maybe a lite jacket, tennis shoes, don’t bring the CONVERTIBLE & come HUNGRY!!  HAPPY ANTIQUING!!

bless, tara the pie queen

I truly want to CRY with joy…I have been living in IL for 8.5 years and have been missing my twice yearly trip to Roundtop! This year I get to stay Thurs – Sun (7th) with my best friend and my amazing sis-in-law and I am so happy at the thought that I could honestly cry! See you at Royer’s on Friday night!!!
