i miss going to granny and papa’s.
they lived in burnet, texas. burnet, durn it, can’t you learn it.
we would top the hill coming into town & see the water tower and know we had made it.
first thing we would do when we arrived, was head over to miller’s grocery. we’d load up on skittles, lots of big red & vienna sausages.
of course, granny had made tea cakes, my fav, lots of snicker doodles and wedding cookies.
she could bake something fierce.
to remember granny we are serving her amazing cookies in the pie haven now.
go get one. will remind you of granny’s.
here’s the recipe if you can’t make it on over…
2 sticks of oleo (that’s what granny called it) or butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
2 tsps cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
cream butter and sugar, add eggs & beat. sift dry ingredients & add to wet ingredients, beat.
form small balls & roll in equal parts of cinnamon & sugar.
don’t mash ’em down. that would be bad. jk
bake at 375 for 10-12 mins. or until edges are slightly browned.
